Memories of The Alhambra Episode 14 Recap
Yu-ra is shooting a commercial. During the break, she watches the newsflash that Jin-woo hasn’t come in for the questioning. Detective Park Dong-Jin tells the reporters that he will let them know more later. Yu-ra wonders what Jin-woo is up to and manager Noh Yeong Jun says Jin-woo must’ve been scared.
After a while, Yeong Jun enters the set and Yu-ra runs over to him asking what happened. Yeong Jun says Jin-woo met with professor Cha earlier in the day. He snaps saying he doesn’t know why they met and says something doesn’t feel right.
A while later, Yu-ra tries calling Professor Cha numerous times but her call goes unanswered. She wonders why he isn’t answering and Yeong Jun is irritated as he asks if Jin-woo tricked them again.
Back in her apartment, Yu-ra is drunk and frustrated as she tries calling professor Cha again. After the call goes unanswered she goes to the living room where Yeong Jun is seated. He tells her that the lawyer told her not to go in for the questioning as something had come up. He says he wasn’t given a reason. Yeong Jun says they have been fooled completely.
Yu-ra loses her temper, cursing him as she asks why he hung up without getting any information. Yeong Jun is furious as he throws the phone and reminds her that she was the one who had cut the deal with Professor Cha. He says he had warned her not to trust Cha since he wanted to make a deal out of the blue. He suspects Cha had made a deal with Jin-woo and then ditched Yu-ra. He yells at her saying he told her not to use her stupid head but still she brought this upon herself.
As he is about to walk away, Yu-ra vows that she will kill them all. He tells her to do what she wants and walks out. Yu-ra throws a fit as he walks away without a second glance at her. She starts drinking.
Later, a drunk Yu-ra walks unsteadily on the road and gets into a cab asking to be taken to the Central Police Station. As she walks into the police station, the reporters swarm around her taking her pictures. She doesn’t answer any questions thrown at her as she walks into the building.
Inside, Detective Park Dong-Jin asks her why she is here when her interview is scheduled for tomorrow. Yu-ra says it’s her only chance to tell. When he points out that she is drunk she says, she just had a couple of shots to muster up the courage to come here. She says she is sober enough to give a statement and says she will help the investigation.
At the villa, Professor Cha receives a call from lawyer Park Beom Seok. He learns that Yu-ra has gone to the police station.
At the police station, Yu-ra says Jin-woo told her that he had killed Hyeong Seok. She says Jin-woo admitted to strangling Hyeong Seok out of anger. Dong Jin asks if Jin-woo told this to her directly at the Granada hospital and she confirms it.
In a flashback (hospital in Granada), Jin-woo sees Yu-ra and asks Jung Hoon to tell him that it (Yu-ra being there) is just a dream. He curses when he learns that she is really there.
At present, Yu-ra says that seeing her there made Jin-woo feel relieved. She says he had confessed to her. She says she was married back then and he was injured, so she kept her mouth shut. Dong Jin asks if there was anyone present at that time and she says Jung Hoon was present but he is dead now too. She says he died mysteriously while travelling with Jin-woo and draws parallels to Hyeong Seok’s death. Yu-ra asks for a break when she receives Professor Cha’s phone call.
Yu-ra comes to the restroom and takes the call. Professor Cha asks her what she is doing and she says that she is giving the statement as promised. She says she even spiced it up a bit, so she deserves extra shares. He says he told her not to do it. Yu-ra loses her cool and addresses him as Cha Byeong Jun. She asks him who he is to boss her around. She says she doesn’t know what he is planning with Jin-woo but she had to walk away empty handed. She says if he keeps provoking her, she will take down both Jin-woo and him together.
Yu-ra says she will tell the police that Professor Cha coerced her into committing perjury and his actions to steal his daughter-in-law’s assets. She asks if he thinks she can’t do it and says she worked her way up from rock bottom. She adds that she isn’t a hypocrite like him. Professor Cha is distressed as she hangs up.
Lawyer Park informs Cha that Yu-ra’s interview went on for 2 hours and she just left the police station. He says she came alone unaccompanied by her lawyer. He says she agreed to do an interview with too. Professor Cha shakes in anger as he hangs up.
As Yu-ra comes out after questioning, the reporters ask her a series of questions. Yu-ra keeps a grim expression and says she told the police the truth. She says it took a lot of courage for her to step up. She says her heart goes out to Cha Hyeong Seok who died as a victim of infidelity. The reporters ask if that was the motive and if Su-Jin’s affair was with Yoo Jin-woo. They continue asking more questions.
At the villa, Seon ho (back from New York) is anxious as he learns of everything. He suggests shutting down the servers but Cha asks him to leave them open. Cha says Jin-woo has made a choice to sort it out in his way. He asks to let Jin-woo be. Soen-ho tells Cha to shut down the re-investigation but Cha says that it is too late and that he has already dug his own grave.
Seon-ho is disheartened as he walks out and calls up Jin-woo.
Jin-woo is walking outside the eatery as he takes the call. Seon-ho is flustered as he tells that Yu-ra has caused trouble by giving a statement saying Jin-woo confessed to her about murdering Hyeong Seok. He says even Professor Cha couldn’t stop her. He says it is enough to get Jin-woo arrested without a warrant. Seon-Ho asks to meet Jin-woo. Jin-woo looks at the police officers nearby and says they are already here for him.
Jin-woo hangs up and walks into the eatery just in time to see the officers questioning Hee-Ju. They tell Hee-Ju that she was in the photos with Jin-woo and ask her his whereabouts. She asks them what this is about. Jin-woo runs away and the officers spot him fleeing. Hee-Ju follows the officers out of the eatery and sees Jin-woo being chased by the police car.
Jin-woo runs through the streets trying to get away. After quite a long chase, the police lose him. As Jin-woo walks down the street, he shoots an NPC soldier.

As Jin-woo continues to walk, he receives a call from Hee-Ju who asks where he is. He asks her to go home since the police might bother her. He says he will explain later as to why they are looking for him. Suddenly, a bullet hits him on his hand and his phone drops out of his hand.

Hee-Ju is about to walk away when the shopkeeper asks her to pay the bill.
Meanwhile, Jin-woo fires at the sniper and stumbles into a restaurant. The people in the restaurant recognise him and start to take photos.
AN ENEMY HAS APPEARED
Jin-woo spots a soldier outside the restaurant and he pulls out the gun.

Jin-woo turns around to see more soldiers and they are inside the restaurant this time. He pulls out the sniper rifle.

Jin-woo uses the candle lighter (Special item) which spits a raging flame that kills all the soldiers. The people in the restaurant wonder what he is doing as they see him waving his hand in thin air.

The restaurant owner asks Jin-woo whether he is going to order or not. Jin-woo apologises and is about to walk away when he spots the police officers outside. They see him too. Jin-woo runs out through the back door as they start to chase him. Jin-woo again manages to get away. The police officers ask Dong Jin as to how Jin-woo is running like that when they were told he had a limp.
Jin-woo dodges the bullets from the AR snipers as he continues to run away.
Seon ho calls Jin-woo’s phone but the phone is lying underneath some boxes by the sidewalk. He then calls up Yang-Ju asking for Jin-woo’s location in the game. Yang Ju says he doesn’t have an exact location in Myeong-Dong but says Hee-Ju is with Jin-woo.
Hee-Ju is paying the bill at the eatery when Seon-Ho calls her. She tells him that Jin-woo managed to get away from the officers. Seon-ho breathes a sigh of relief when he learns this. She asks if he being chased because he didn’t appear for questioning. She says Jin-woo isn’t answering the phone. Seon ho says that the situation has gotten worse and fills her in about Yu-ra’s statement.
Hee-Ju runs to her car and drives away.

When she is 30 M away, she spots Dong Jin and the police officers standing in the street. Hee-Ju continues to drive. She stops abruptly when Jin-woo runs into the street dodging the bullets. He returns the fire and runs away into an alley. Hee-Ju starts driving.
Jin-woo walks into a clothing store to get away. The shop is swarming with AR terrorists. Jin-woo walks into one of the fitting rooms and locks the door. A terrorist waits outside the door.

Jin-woo sits down and waits inside the trial room. Jin-woo takes out his pistol.

Jin-woo checks the new items. He chooses the watch from the special items and it appears on his wrist. He wonders what it does.

Hee-Ju walks outside the fitting rooms and is pulled inside by Jin-woo. Jin-woo locks the door and asks her why she isn’t listening to him. He says he had told her not to log in. Hee-Ju walks up to him and hugs him. Jin-woo pulls back and asks her to remove her lens. She asks why he isn’t attending her calls. Jin-woo says he lost his phone. Hee-Ju gives him her phone and asks him to call Seon-ho. She says they will file an arrest warrant if they catch him. Jin-woo says it is no surprise as Yu-ra did what was expected of her.
Jin-woo calls up Seon-ho who asks if he is caught. Jin-woo says he got away since he didn’t want to die. Jin-woo says if he is in handcuffs there is nothing he can do. He says Hyeong Seok will kill him even before he is investigated. He says he can’t protect the company if he is cornered. Hee-Ju is worried as she hears the conversation. He says he will do something to prove he is innocent in order to survive. He tells Seon-ho not to close down the server if he doesn’t want everyone going down. Jin-woo hangs up and hands the phone back to Hee-Ju.
Just then, an employee knocks the door asking if he needs help. Jin-woo says he will be right out. Hee-Ju asks Jin-woo what he is going to do when he says they should leave. Jin-woo looks at the AR Special Item Watch.

Jin-woo sets the time. All the NPC terrorists freeze where they are. Jin-woo takes Hee-Ju’s hand and walks out of the fitting room.

As they head out, Jin-woo asks where she has parked her car and she says it’s in the parking lot. Jin-woo asks for her car keys and tells her to take a cab. Hee-Ju gives him the keys. Jin-woo hails a cab for Hee-Ju.
Hee-Ju asks if he isn’t coming with her. Jin-woo says he has to level up regardless of the police. She asks what will happen if he gets caught. Jin-woo says he will eventually get caught but he can’t waste time by running away. Hee-Ju says she won’t go either. Jin-woo says she has to do something at home for him and she is convinced when she hears this.
Hee-Ju gets into the car and he asks her not to worry. He says it is coming to an end. He says it is almost over by tomorrow at dawn the earliest. He says he will come over in the morning. Hee-Ju is still disturbed as he smiles at her and closes the cab door. Her eyes tear up as she watches Jin-woo through the rear window of the cab. She starts crying as Jin-woo’s figure grows smaller when the cab pulls away.
Jin-woo wears a grim expression after Hee-Ju leaves.
THE WATCH FUNCTION WILL END IN 5 SECONDS
The watch goes back into the inventory after 5 seconds. Jin-woo takes out the special item ‘Lighter’ as the terrorists walk towards the entrance of the store. Jin-woo waits for the door to open and he throws the lighter inside the store after lighting it. The lighter explodes killing all the terrorists in the store. Jin-woo walks away from the street.
Jin-woo retrieves his phone from where he had dropped it. He pulls out both the pistols and runs down the street continuing the game.
Hee-Ju reaches home and Min-Ju comments that Hee-Ju is very late. Hee-Ju runs into her room trying to figure out a way to help Jin-woo. Min-Ju follows her to the room and says that Jin-woo had called her moments ago asking if Hee-Ju got home. She says he said that Hee-Ju needn’t look for it. Min-Ju adds that Jin-woo had only said that to make Hee-Ju go home. Min-Ju adds that Jin-woo said Hee-Ju needn’t help him anymore. Hee-Ju stops what she is doing with a defeated look.
Hee-Ju doesn’t sleep throughout the night. She walks into grandma’s room and checks the IV line. Grandma asks why she is awake so early and Hee-Ju says she wasn’t able to sleep. She pulls the blanket over grandma and walks out.
Hee-Ju makes some porridge at dawn and tears streak down her face. Jin-woo’s words echo in her head, “It is almost over now. Tomorrow dawn at the earliest. I’ll come over in the morning.”
The calling bell sounds and Hee-Ju runs out. She sees Seon-ho outside. He apologises for disturbing her early in the morning. Hee-Ju says it is all right since she was awake anyway and asks if something is wrong. Seon-ho says that he had just come to talk with her. He asks if Jin-woo has called and she says he hasn’t. He says he heard from Yang-Ju about Hee-Ju and Jin-woo’s relationship. He says he should congratulate her but he doesn’t think he can. He asks her why she would date such a guy. He smiles saying he wouldn’t have approved if he were her brother. Hee-Ju smiles but doesn’t respond.
Seon ho asks what Jin-woo had said before parting ways the previous day. Hee-Ju says he had lied to her about wanting a favour from her in order to send her home. Her eyes tear up as she says he didn’t contact her since then. She says she has just been waiting because she has been clueless as to what to do. Seon-ho says he should’ve believed Jin-woo. He says he would probably end up losing his friend as well as his company.
Just then, Seon ho receives a call from Yang-Ju. Yang-Ju says that Jin-woo has reached level 100. He says he dozed off for some time and says Jin-woo must have levelled up at that time.
Elsewhere, Jin-woo is badly wounded and is slumped beside a building. Many terrorists lie dead beside him.

Jin-woo’s wounds disappear. The message pops up.

Jin-woo takes out his phone and calls Yang-Ju.
Meanwhile, Yang-Ju is boasting as he tells Seon-ho that Jin-woo was able to level up because of the special items he had created. He hangs up as Jin-woo calls up.
Jin-woo asks Yang-Ju to reposition Emma to where he is right now. Yang-Ju says that the map isn’t accurate and asks for a location asking him to name a large building nearby. Jin-woo notices a church a bit further away and tells Yang-Ju to position Emma in the Catholic Church.
Jin-woo drops the phone as a bullet hits the phone. He looks up and sees a terrorist walking towards him. Before he can react, the terrorist shoots him.
YOU HAVE BEEN SHOT
The terrorist shoots him again and again. Jin-woo is unable to move as the terrorist comes really close to him. Suddenly someone shoots the terrorist.
YOUR ALLY HAS APPEARED
Jin-woo watches as AR Jung Hoon appears and shoots the terrorist again with his pistol. The terrorist aims for AR Jung Hoon but Jin-woo shoots the terrorist. Jung Hoon fires again and kills the terrorist.
CITY HUNTER HAS DEFEATED THE TERRORIST
Jin-woo looks at AR Jung Hoon who looks back at him. Jung Hoon disappears after scanning the place for more enemies.

Jin-woo is woeful as he picks up the phone to speak with Yang Ju. Yang Ju says it will take a while to move Emma to the church. Jin-woo asks him to give a call when it is done.
Meanwhile, Seon-ho starts to leave to office. He tells Hee-Ju that he will call her when he gets any news. He tells her not to worry too much as it will all work out. He says this time he chooses to believe him. Seon-ho leaves in his car.
Hee-Ju runs inside and wears her coat. As she heads out Sang Beom comes in his car asking where she is going. She borrows his car and drives away. He asks where she is going and she doesn’t reply.
Jin-woo rests on the sidewalk and the street starts to get busy. Jin-woo starts walking slowly towards the Church. He shoots some runaway soldiers on the way as they appear. As Jin-woo walks by, a man on a motorcycle recognises him.
Jin-woo walks into the Church and sits down. His voiceover narrates, “I have never believed in God, but I would like to believe in him now. I hope this is the end.”Jin-woo crosses himself.
Jin-woo receives a message from Su-Jin which reads, “I’m sorry”. Jin-woo is about to call Su-Jin but stops when he hears the “Memories of The Alhambra” playing. He looks up and sees Emma playing the guitar before the altar. Jin-woo walks up to her.
Elsewhere, the motorcyclist tells the police that he saw Jin-woo going towards the church. The police request back up.
In the church, Jin-woo remembers Hee-Ju saying that the day the Key of Heaven reaches the Hand of Fatima, the gate will open and the palace will crumble. Jin-woo says, “Hello Emma”. Emma looks up and says hello.
The police cars arrive at the church. Dong Jin and the officers run towards the church.
Jin-woo says it’s been a while and Emma says likewise. Jin-woo says he has something for her. She asks if it is perhaps the key to heaven. Jin-woo confirms it. She asks him to show it to her. Jin-woo shows her the key and Emma says that it is what she is looking for. She asks if he can give it to her and holds out her hand. Jin-woo places the key on her hand and she takes it.

Jin-woo watches as the guitar disappears from Emma’s hands.
Dong Jin-rushes into the church.
Meanwhile, Hee-Ju drives down the road and she notices a few police cars crossing her with sirens blaring. Hee-Ju turns her car around and follows them. She reaches the church and walks in. There is no sign of Emma or Jin-woo. There are a few Catholic nuns praying. She calls up Jin-woo but the phone is unreachable. Hee-Ju hangs up and logs into the game.

Hee-Ju doesn’t find anyone here still and she starts to walk away. She stops when she hears “memories of the Alhambra playing. She turns around to see Emma before the altar.
Meanwhile, Seon ho rushes into Yang-Ju’s office asking about Jin-woo. Yang-Ju says Jin-woo had asked to relocate Emma to church and he hasn’t called back since then. He says Hee-Ju is at the church but Jin-woo isn’t there. Seon ho yells at Yang Ju asking him to pinpoint Jin-woo’s location. Yang-Ju says Jin-woo logged out. Seon ho asks if that means Jin-woo was arrested. Yang-Ju says he doesn’t think so since police are still searching for him.
Hee-Ju walks out of the church and wonders out loud as to where Jin-woo is.
Meanwhile, Yeong Jun walks into Yu-ra’s room and shakes her awake. As she wakes up, he asks her what she has done at the police station. Yu-ra says she had told that she will kill all of them. He asks her if she is insane and wants to end her career now. Yu-ra says Jin-woo, Professor ha and Su-Jin are all going down. She says those who ruined her life should all die. Yeong Jun says that she got her wish and Su-jin might actually die soon.
At her clinic earlier, Su-Jin watches Yu-ra’s interview on TV. Her eyes tear up when Yu-ra says Hyeong Seok died as a victim of infidelity. She switches off the TV. She sends a text to Jin-woo that reads, “I’m sorry”. She heads over to the medical storage room and takes the pills.
Later on, one of the staffs come into the clinic and finds some pills on the floor. She walks into the room and finds Su-Jin unconscious on the floor. She runs over and tries to wake her up but Su-Jin doesn’t respond.
Professor Cha learns that Su-Jin is in a critical condition.
Su-Jin is unconscious at the hospital and is being treated.
A news report relays that Yu-ra had given a statement and Su-Jin is in a critical condition after attempting suicide.
At the Central Police Station, Dong Jin answers questions about their failed attempt at catching Jin-woo. He says that they are not considering arresting Jin-woo without a warrant. The reporters ask if they are letting Jin-woo get off easily. Dong Jin says they will make an announcement later. The media speculates whether Jin-woo has left the country.
Elsewhere, Hee-Ju retraces her steps where she met Jin-woo the day before. A terrorist appears before her and shoots her. Hee-Ju covers her face with her hands.

She walks into the clothing store and heads towards the fitting room. She sees the empty fitting room.
(Flashback) Inside the fitting room, Jin-woo starts the timer on the watch. Hee-Ju asks what the sound was. Jin-woo takes her hand and opens the door. He pauses and closes the door before turning towards her. He cups her face and kisses her. He pulls back and they gaze at each other for a moment before he takes her hand again, leading her out of the fitting room.
Hee-Ju stands outside the fitting room at present and tears stream down her face. She walks out of the clothing store.
At J-One, Seon ho is in deep thought as he walks into Yang Ju’s office. Yang Ju says there is no news of Jin-woo. Yang-Ju is worried saying it’s been over a day. He says Jin-woo hasn’t called in or logged in and the police haven’t been able to find him either. Seon Ho says that they should close down the server. He says there is no point in keeping it open now.
The servers are shut down.
A day passes by and Min-Ju is having dinner before heading out to her private lesson. Grandma wonders why Hee-Ju isn’t eating and asks why she came back dazed. Min-Ju lets out a sigh and says she can’t tell her, as her blood pressure will rise. Min-Ju runs away with her bag as Grandma tries to ask more into it.
Hee-Ju is in her bed crying and she pulls the covers over her head as she hears her grandmother’s footsteps. Grandma closes the door thinking Hee-Ju is sleeping. Hee-Ju continues to cry after her grandma goes away.
Min-Ju walks out of the house and stops abruptly as she sees a figure standing on the other side of the street.
Hee-Ju gets out of her bed as she hears Min-Ju calling out her name from outside. Hee-Ju rushes out and asks what it is. Min-Ju points out in a direction and asks Hee-Ju to see. Hee-Ju cautiously walks forward as Sang Beom and grandma come out of the house. Hee-Ju goes closer and calls out in a low voice, “Se-ju”. Se-Ju looks up at Hee-Ju. Hee-Ju is overwhelmed as she sees Se-Ju standing in front of her.

Review
This episode brought Se-Ju back but Jin-woo has gone missing.
I wonder if the key in Emma’s hand teleported Jin-woo to another location. I am eager to see how Jin-woo makes it back to the real world as it looks like he is stuck in the game now. The scene where Jung Hoon reappeared as City hunter was melancholic. Jin-woo isn’t alone in the game as he has Jung Hoon still looking out for him when he is in danger. The part with the NPC’s soldiers/terrorists chasing Jin-woo was a good watch as it was thrilling. The features of the special items were impressive and the scenes where Jin-woo used them were well made.
Most of the information involving Se-Ju are Jin-woo’s speculations and some important parts of it are still a mystery. I guess the upcoming episode will shed light on the past year of Se-Ju’s life since it is the major aspect of the story. I am curious to find out how Se-ju appeared a day after Jin-woo disappeared and after the servers were shut down.
It is good to know that Seon-ho is on Jin-woo’s side now and is willing to help clear his name. It looks like Professor Cha bit off more than he could chew by cutting a deal with Yu-ra. It seems like clearing Jin-woo’s name in the real world is going to be difficult because of the statement she made. I am curious to see what happens to Yu-ra at the end of the series since she has created such a mess.
As the series heads into its final week, there are quite some puzzles that have to be solved. I hope we are given a good finale and not an abrupt one.
