Change

-By Kalpana-

Part 1

And a change had crept in..

She kept aside the book to sleep early and a change had crept in.

She decided to wake early to tackle her chores and a change had crept in.

She stopped complaining about things denied and a change had crept in.

She began to silence her words and a change had crept in.

She resolved to complete the disliked task and a change had crept in.

She curbed her desires and a change had crept in.

Lessons of life sapped her rigidity, flexibility set in. And a change had crept in.

She reined in her anger, she controlled her impatience, she monitored her smiles, hid her tears, and a change had crept in.

She hardened her self, braced herself, controlled herself and a change had crept in.

From a carefree self, caring crept in.

Her wisdom changed, her laughter changed,

Her very own being changed; ah, these minute changes,

Unnoticed changes, pretentious changes, unpretentious changes,

Deliberate changes, forced changes, reluctant changes..

A dignified persona, hammered by the hammer of change.

Part 2

She buried herself in her style of time, and the change was swept away

She reached out to shut down rap and pop, and change was swept away,

Zipped out jeans, western wear,She strutted in her saree,‘pallu’ tight and secure, and a change was swept away

She disproved, contradicted modern social norms, and a change was swept away,

She discriminated world cultures, an orthodox traditionalist, and a change was swept away,

She deliberated deliberately and spurned techno changes and a change was swept away.

Opinionated, vocal, harsh

Refusing to learn, unlearn, relearn,

She chained herself to stringency,

And the very lessons cloaked her in principled rigidity,

inflexibility personified, malleability unyielding,

Chiseled and carved, frozen in time

She buried herself in a narrow world, shutting the book of sweeping change,

Her uninterrupted flow of blooming change

Turned rusty, flaky, deadly dull

With The very embrace of change forsaken

Stubborn, mocking, invalidating,

On the brink of old age she stood,

Change and she forsook each other;

Change that blossomed and bloomed her,

Now left her alone. And moved on..

She stayed unresponsive, resolute and disregarded

Dissolved languidly into obscurity.

Change flowed on with flexible beings

Blossoming and delighting those who embraced

Change is a change

From who you are

To what you are

And why you are!!
